Written at a time of rapid and excited industrial and financial expansion in the capital, the author gives a synopsis of British history, current military and financial information, a survey of municipal and administrative activities, before passing to extensive descriptions of monuments, building, churches, theatres, schools, prisons, etc. Antonio Gil de Tejada was proprietor of the Casa de Huéspedes Española in Cavendish Square and states that he had taught Spanish at the University of London. This edition is preferable to the first which has no illustrations.
