First edition and all published of this rare work.   The history covers the period between Christopher Columbus’s arrival in America to the conclusion of the French and Indian Wars in 1763, and is the first history of North America written by a Brazilian author.   An eminent Brazilian statesman, José Feliciano Fernandes Pinheiro was a minister at the Imperial Court, a founder member and first president of the Insitituto Histórico e Geográfico do Brasil and a member of several distinguished European and American scientific and literary societies.
