Description

Small 8vo.  96 pp.  Original calf, spine gilt (head & foot of spine slightly chipped).   Ownership signature on front free endpaper.   Ink scribbles on front & back free endpapers & p. (VI) & pencilled scribbles on p. 48, some occasional soiling.    

Nirso hoped to promote the cultivation of silkworms in Portugal, and his was followed by several works on the subject.   The silk industry was protected by Pombal, who encouraged its production, and stimulated cultivation in areas where silkworms were reared.

Innocêncio VII, 375, believed the author’s name was an anagram.
