A colourful figure in the journalistic and literary world of late 19th century Lisbon, Magalhães Lima was one of the driving forces behind the celebrations throughout Europe to commemorate the fourth centennial of the discovery of the sea route to India. A dedicated freemason, he occupied the position of Grand Master of the Lodge of Grande Oriente Lusitano from 1907 until his death in 1928. Pp. (27)-(31) contain lists of the members of the French Committee and of the Portuguese Committee in Paris.
