Small 4to.  56 pp.  Recent blind-stamped calf.   Two ownership signatures on title p., slit in title p. & on p. 23/24 repaired, some spotting.

The author, a German Jesuit, left for the missions in Malabar in 1737 and in this rare work gives a fascinating account of the work of the Jesuit missions in present-day Tamil Nadu.   He describes the difficulties and opposition faced by the priests, the persecutions by devout Hindus, he gives accounts of miracles, and of the invasions by the Marattas whose advances were repulsed.
