The English version of Algumas palavras em resposta ao que certas pessoas tem ditto e avançado à cerca do Governo Portuguez is an approximate and abbreviated translation of the Portuguese, also printed in 1831, and may have appeared first, together with the French (Quelques mots en réponse à quelques personnages sur les Affaires du Portugal), also in 1831. The “post scriptum” in English (p. 33) becomes the “segunda parte” in the Portuguese edition (p. 26), which has additional material from p. 45 onwards. Some of the invective against Portuguese liberals is more forceful in this English edition. With the bookplate of J. Pinto Ferreira.
Innocêncio (X, 2) does not mention this edition. (Cf. Borba de Moraes (1983) I, 156-57.) Not traced in WorldCat, Porbase or COPAC.
