Parts 3 and 4, by Frei Antonio Brandão . . appeared in l632 . . Brandão had spent nearly ten years collecting and sifting documentary evidence for his work and is a far better historian than Brito, although in style he is not his equal," (Bell, Portuguese Literature, p. 207). The original edition appeared in 1597-1650 and is very rare. This edition does not include Parts 5 – 7 by Francisco de Brandão and Rafael de Jesus. Volumes numbered l - 6i & ii, 8, lacking Vol. 7 as usual.
