D. Miguel I.  Obra a mais completa e concludente que tem apparecido na Europa sobre a legitimidade e inauferiveis direitos do Senhor D. Miguel I. ao throno de Portugal.  Traduzida do original francez . . .  Segunda edição mais correcta.

Lisbon, Impressão Regia, 1829.

Small 4to.  VIII, 140 pp.  With engraved frontispiece.  Wrappers.

The work sets out the perceived rights to the throne of Portugal of D. Miguel, second son of D. João VI, in preference to those of his elder brother, D. Pedro.   The main text appears on pp. 1-62 and “Notas Justificativas” and other supporting documents occupy pp. 63-138.   The preface (pp. iii-viii) to this edition was written by José Agostinho de Macedo, who has also been credited with the translation.   The frontispiece depicts the miraculous appearance of Christ to D. Afonso Henriques in 1139 at the Battle of Ourique against the Moors, and is reproduced in Bordigné’s La Legitimité Portugaise (Paris 1830 edition).   The work has also been attributed to António Ribeiro Saraiva and João de São Boaventura.
