The Banco de Portugal, formed from the union of the Banco de Lisboa with the Companhia de Confiança Nacional, was created in 1846 to restore confidence in the country‘s finances after years of civil war. An historical synopsis of its organization occupies pp. 55-59, and a list of share-holders the final 39 pp. Some pencil marks, tiny piece torn from front free endpaper.
